Premiered in Berlin in December 2016, at the invitation of ICR “Titu Maiorescu” Berlin, “Isvor. Constantin Brâncuși”, the newest artistic project of the Imago Mundi ensemble, was toured from June 18 to 23, 2017 in a European tour: a series of four concert-shows held in Belgrade (Serbia), Budapest (Hungary), Graz and Vienna (Austria). The program lasts about an hour and is part of the “crossover” current – original cult-contemporary music, traditional echoes and American minimalism, a performance visually supported by photo/video projections mixed in real time.

The project “Isvor. Constantin Brâncuși” is dedicated to the great Romanian sculptor, from whose life and work it is inspired; it is a reconstruction – visual and sound – of Brâncuși’s world: from the Gorja one, where he was born and spiritually formed, to the Parisian one that perfected him artistically and culturally. Thus, the works that make up the musical program are inspired by traditional Olten music; the music of Maria Tănase (perhaps the most important voice for traditional Romanian music, but also one of Brâncuși’s great loves); the music of Erik Satie (French composer, precursor of minimalism, surrealism, repetitive music or “théâtre de l’absurde”, interested in the music of Romanian violinists and a good friend of the Romanian sculptor); or, simply, works inspired by the work of Constantin Brâncuși: The Sleeping Muse, The Bird in the Air, The Goodness of the Earth, The Table of Silence, The Infinite Column.

The musical compositions belong to Cătălin Ștefănescu-Pătrașcu and are visually supported by photo-video works signed by Florin Ghenade, respectively by video projections mixed in real time by Cristian Stănoiu.

The project is co-financed by AFCN in the funding session I/2017 and is organized in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute (through ICR Vienna and ICR Budapest), the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Austria / Honorary Consulate in Graz, Bank Austria salon in Altes Rathaus, Casa Benczúr, Happy Tour, eBrain. Sponsors: EIT Forum Auto, Spandugino Publishing House.
